Perfect for making infused vodka
In 2019 I had Laplandia Bilberry Vodka at an ice bar in Helsinki, but I was unable to find it here in the US, nor could I find actual bilberries. I've made infused vodkas in the past but never with dried berries and I figured I'd give it a try. It came out great! I let the berries soak in the vodka for about 2 weeks before straining them out. The ratio I use is 1 oz of dried bilberries to 12 oz of liquid (vodka/water). If you want to try your hand at it, look a limoncello recipe and use berries instead of lemons.

Bilberries with a light flavor, and a bit tough, but good
These Dried Bilberries from Nature Restore arrive in a resealable package, which is a nice touch. There are 4ox (113g) of dried bilberries per bag, and the Bilberries look decent. There are some little stems in there, still, but that's a bit normal for dried bilberries. They are decent dried Bilberries. So far I've mixed them in a smoothie, which worked well. I also added some to Oatmeal, and that worked OK, best to add them while cooking the oatmeal, than afterward, so they can absorb more moisture. The flavor is alright, not too strong, but there. These are decent quality Dried Bilberries, however I do have a few gripes. No country of origin is listed other than, "Southern Europe". Also, these dried bilberries are a bit more dehydrated than some others I've had. You could snack on these alone, however in the bag that arrived here, the bilberries were pretty tough. They weren't so bad that they were like little rocks, they did have some chewiness, however they are a bit more dry than I expected.

First Time Trying Bilberries
Up until now I have never tried this particular berry before. I was expecting these to taste like blueberries but, at least in my opinion, I don't really find that to be the case. In my opinion, the taste is almost similar to mulberries. They have just the slightest bit of sweetness to it and a bit of a fruity flavor to them but are otherwise not that flavorful. We prefer to put these in our oatmeal because we find eating them by themselves to be a little tough. They are kind of hard to chew so, in our opinion, they do best soaked in a liquid. My 3 kids love these and ask me to put them in their oatmeal every morning. These offer a high concentration of antioxidants, which boosts the immune system.Give them a try!

Great addition to my smoothies
I like to add some dried berries or berry powder to my morning smoothies which contain mostly frozen berries, a frozen banana and fresh spinach and water blended in a Vitamix. I only use a tablespoon since it is dried. This is very very dry and there are some tiny bits of stem - I do not pick out the stem because my blender can handle it. It does make the blender a little harder to clean since some dried bits glom onto the jar and don;t want to be blended in - I have had this issue before with other but not all dried berries. The unique bilberry flavor does not really stand out in my smoothies but it does add a pleasing level of berry/fruity complexity to the flavor.

Sticks and stones
They are tiny, sticks on most of them with some black rocks in the bag. Please save your money and don't by these

Great!
These are really nice quality. I love having these on hand. Great for adding to muffins, desserts, shakes, etc. You get four ounces which is a pretty good size package since they're dried. Overall I like and would recommend it! I have to admit that I thought they were blueberries at first. But nope they're real. Apparently a "Bilberry is a type of dark blue-skinned berry native to Europe. It is sometimes called whortleberry, huckleberry, or blaeberry. Today, the bilberry grows in countries outside of Europe, including certain regions of the United States."
